Kick in the teeth: Black stars set to boycott Kick It Out campaign over Terry 'let-off'
England’s F.A panel's decision to suspend the Chelsea captain for 'only' four games for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand sparked anger within the fraternity. Black football players are threatening to boycott the FA-backed “Kick It Out campaign” after the landmark ruling on John Terry. Some players now want to show their disgust by refusing to wear the anti-racism shirts during next month’s showpiece campaign because they feel they are being let down.
The 31 year old Terry is accused of a single utterance towards Ferdinand, which has led to some speculation that if found guilty the Chelsea player would be more likely to receive a four-match ban. Terry was found not guilty in a magistrates' court in July of a racially-motivated public order offence with the prosecution unable to prove he had called Ferdinand a "f****** black c***" as an insult. Terry admitted using the words, but insisted he had only been repeating words he thought Ferdinand had accused him of saying. Almost a year after hurling a slur at Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, Terry was handed a four-match ban and a record £220 000 fine by a Football Association disciplinary panel after a four-day hearing.

Currie Cup Update
It says something about how much the face of the game in this country has changed that three Currie Cup fixtures that could determine the final pecking order will be played in the shadows cast by an important test match thisweekend.
With three matches to go there is reason for all six teams to be on a knockout footing -- the Lions, Sharks and Western Province cannot afford to lose if they hope to top the log, the Bulls and Griquas can’t lose if they want to remain in contention for a place in the top four and avoid the relegation zone, and the Cheetahs are in the Last Chance Saloon that the Bulls were drinking in last week.

The top three are probably clear of the relegation zone, but all six teams are still in with a chance of making the semi-finals, which means they all still retain an interest in the destination of the trophy. Yes, even the Cheetahs, who somewhat bizarrely find themselves footing the log and playing for survival in their central union derby in Bloemfontein.

As they don’t lose as many Springboks as some of the other top teams do, the Cheetahs were one of the favoured teams at the start of the Currie Cup season. But after losing several games in succession that they could easily have won, they are in danger of seeing all the other sides disappearing over the hill in front of them if they lose.

Hamilton to partner Rosberg at Mercedes in 2013
Mercedes have announced their 2013 driver line-up, with NicoRosberg being joined by Lewis Hamilton, who moves to the team from McLaren on a three-year contract, leaving Michael Schumacher without a confirmed drive for next season.

“It is now time for me to take on a fresh challenge and I am very excited to begin a new chapter racing for the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team,” said Hamilton, who exits McLaren after six seasons. “Mercedes-Benz has such an incredible heritage in motorsport, along with a passion for winning which I share.

“Together, we can grow and rise to this new challenge. I believe that I can help steer the Silver Arrows to the top and achieve our joint ambitions of winning the world championships.”

Hamilton’s career has been supported by Mercedes-Benz since its earliest days. In 2000, he and Rosberg were team-mates at TeamMBM.com in Formula A karting. He drove with Mercedes-Benz engines during his two seasons in the Formula Three Euroseries, winning the 2005 championship, and all of his 104 F1 starts - and his 2008 drivers’ title - have been powered by Mercedes-Benz.
